Arabic Program

Overview

The CLC offers intensive courses in Modern Standard Arabic comprising fifty or sixty contact hours, depending on level, and equivalent to 4 units of university-level Arabic(1). Courses generally take 12 to 15 days to complete, with 4 or 5 hours of study per day, 5 days a week. In addition to classroom work, students should expect daily homework and review. For higher level courses, the CLC also organizes small discussion groups with native speakers.

Courses are taught with maximum emphasis on activating productive and receptive communicative skills, as opposed to simply mastering grammar. In addition to themain textbooks, material used in class includes audio recordings, video clips, authentic material from TV, newspapers, and the internet, and short stories.
