What is the IBT TOEFL?
The IBT TOEFL (Internet-Based Test of English as a Foreign Language) is a test of your ability in the English language. It is given on-line and includes listening, speaking, reading and writing. All American universities require that foreign students achieve a certain score on the TOEFL as a condition to being accepted into the university. A TOEFL score is one a many things you’ll need to provide the university.
Who can take the IBT TOEFL?
Anyone who wants to pay for it. But if you do not have a good level in English, it is a waste of time and money.
How can I prepare for the TOEFL?
The best preparation for TOEFL is to have studied English from a communicative approach (such as is offered at the CLC) for at least 400-500 hours in a classroom setting while doing as much outside reading and listening as possible. There are also TOEFL preparation classes at the CLC and elsewhere to help you practice certain skills and take practice tests.
When can I take it?
The CLC will offer the IBT TOEFL four more times in 2010: September 25, October 29th, November 13th, and December 12.
How do I sign up for the TOEFL?
Go to the website http://ets.org/toefl and following the directions for setting up an account. If you have trouble doing this, someone at the CLC can help you.
You then can either pay the fees at the same time or else come back to the account and pay the fees later.
How much does it cost?
The test now costs $175 which can be paid by credit card through the TOEFL site. If you do not have an international credit card, the CLC can register for you, in which case you will pay a 400 dh service charge.
What if I register and I can’t take the test?
ETS will reimburse only PART of the fees paid if you cancel. Check the site for the exact amount. The CLC will reimburse 350 of the 400 dh paid.

" I spent my summer … studying Arabic (at the CLC) and I could not have imagined being anywhere else! .. From the students, the staff, and all others involved, it is such a special place that truly transcends what we think of as a "school." Thanks to all my wonderful instructors and friends who helped make my experience one that I will always remember."
